CacheBooster gives you the ability to tweak the disk cache to get the most out of your harddisk. You can either select a new configuration from the dropdown box or change the settings manually. None of the changes are applied to the system until you press the "Apply changes" button. Then you have to reboot your system and the changes are applied to the system, your harddisk runs than at it's optimal configuration.

With CacheBooster you can specify the following settings: the minimum disk cache ensures that the cache will never fall below this size, while the maximum disk cache size ensures that Windows doesn't go crazy and allocate a huge amount of your physical ram unnecessarily (this is especially useful in systems with smaller amounts of memory). Usually it's better to have these values the same, but this may not be the case on every system. Chunk Size is how the cache will cut up memory - so if you tend to work with smaller files, then it's usually better to have a smaller chunk size; conversely if you work with large files, the larger the chunk size the better. For just general performance, 512Kb is recommended... The Name and Directory cache work in conjunction with eachother and control how much memory is set aside for caching the filenames and directories that are used by programs, that's the way how CacheBooster can speed up subsequent accesses.
